November 2, 2016 | Leave a comment Start your Christmas shopping at the Fairer World Fair…. From Fairtrade footballs to hand-made Christmas cards, and from banana jam to handbags, an even wider range of Fairtrade and fairly traded gifts, crafts and foods will be available at this year’s Fairer World Fair. The annual Fairer World Fair, organised by Dumfries Fairtrade Group, will be held on Saturday 12 November at St George’s Church Hall, George St, Dumfries, from 10am – 2pm. We are really delighted that every year we are able to find an increasing number of Fairtrade and fairly traded products to showcase at the Fairer World Fair. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make a start on your Christmas shopping, and you can be sure that the people behind the products have received fair payment for their work and produce. Nearly all of the stallholders are local to the region, and will include the Galloway Ecostore, Second Nature and Carol Craig’s Wooden Toys – all local businesses who source products that give the producer a fair deal. This year we will also have stalls from Hadeel – crafts from Palestine and Yho Yho – baby clothes from South Africa, as well as Traidcraft, Oxfam and the Edinburgh One World Shop. As well as the wide range of gifts, foods and crafts on sale, there will also be the Café which will be servingteas, coffees, and cakes, with soup available from noon. There will also be a display about the work of Wateraid; and information about the campaign for promoting Fairtrade in the region and across Scotland.
