Let’s make 2016 a great year for Fairtrade in Dumfries. We’ve got lots of things happening to get things off to a good start:

Fairtrade Fortnight is coming up soon – 29 February – 13 March and the theme is Sit down for Breakfast, Stand up for Farmers. See http://fairtrade.org.uk/en/get-involved/current-campaigns/fairtrade-fortnight-2016 for more details.  Our plans locally are still in the making – watch this space – and if you want to help us with ideas why not come along to our next meeting on Wednesday 13 January – contact us if you’d like to come to come.

Our wee mascot Doonie the Fairtrade Beltie has been exploring places around Dumfries which sell fairly traded and Fairtrade products, and will be featuring in this year’s schools’ competition too: click on Schools’ Competition 2016 in the menu on the right for details. You can find him on twitter and facebook – look for #fairtradebeltie

And we hope to have a lantern in the Big Burns Supper parade on January 24.

Finally we are in the process of renovating the website so bear with us if it is a bit wonky at times…
