One of Scotland’s leading Fair trade importers will be  at The Dumfries  Fairer World Fair at St George’s Church Hall, George St., Dumfries on Saturday 12th November, which will also see the signing of the bid for Dumfries to become a Fairtrade Town.

The Fairer World Fair runs from 10am – 3.30pm and admission is free. It  will feature several stalls from local fair-traders – so  this is a great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping, and to find out about the local Fairtrade Town campaign, and the difference that fair trade makes to producers around the world.

At 2.15pm, John Riches, of Just Trading Scotland will be talking and leading a discussion on the difference that Fair Trade makes  in countries such as Swaziland and Malawi, as well as the challenges that face both the producers and importers of Fair Trade goods in a competitive market.

In addition to all that,  this year we also have children’s activities in the afternoon, and for refreshments there will be Fairtrade Café serving soup and homebaking – using local and Fairtrade products where possible.  There will also be information about the Dumfries Fairtrade Campaign and help and inspiration for schools and businesses.
